Carwash Proceeds To Help Outsider
Newsletter
The Commission on Human Concerns used a little soap and a lot of volunteerism
August 21st to raise nearly $200 to help the homeless.
A group of commission volunteers were joined by
a handful of homeless people as they washed cars at Steve's Unocal 76 gas station from 11
a.m. to 4 p.m. to raise funds to turn this newsletter into a self-sufficient product.
The car wash was a way for the homeless to do
something positive for themselves...and the volunteers had a great time. Lance
Winslow, from the Car Wash Guys in Thousand Oaks, said, "I am always willing to help
other for a good cause." Lance showed up to donate his equipment and his car
washing expertise. The other volunteers, Bill, Roberta, Genny, John and Ken, were
catching the attention of the passing cars to persuade them to come in and get their
cars washed. Everyone who volunteered deserve recognition for devoting all their
time and effort to make the carwash a success.
